Oril L. Schmitt, 88, of Charles City, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa.

Oril Lavina Schmitt was born August 13, 1918, the daughter of Anthony and Katherine (Doerr) Einck at Charles City. She received her education from the Charles City and New Hampton Community Schools.

On March 4, 1943 she was united in marriage to William C. Schmitt at Charles City. Oril worked at Castle’s Grocery Store in Charles City for five years and then was a fulltime farm wife.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Saint Michael’s church circle. Her interest included crocheting, embroidering, sewing, gardening, cooking, traveling, solving crossword puzzles, she was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Living family members include three children and their spouses, Carol (Edward) Schmadeke and Lyle (Karen) Schmitt all of Waterloo, and Marilyn (Richard) Gaule of Novato, Calif.; four grandchildren, Annette (Brad) Staples, Amy (Ron) McInroy, Sara (Dan) Hensing and Rachael Schmitt; a step grandson, Joseph Pelton; four great grandchildren, Abigail and Ethan Staples and Hanna and Molly Hensing; one brother Donald (Margaret) Einck of Denver; four sisters, Ardis Wiltse and Helen Einck both of Charles City, Ila Mihm of New Hampton, and Dorothy Carr of Des Moines; and one brother-in-law, Monsignor Ervin Schmitt of Pueblo, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister Vera Schmitt; and a brother Wayne Einck.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 106 Chapel Lane, Charles City, Iowa.
