Pauline Roloff was born August 6, 1914, at New Providence, the daughter of Sanford and Etha Mae (Goforth) Byrd. She graduated from the Riceville High School, received her normal teachers training and taught in the Little Cedar and Riceville areas.

On September 7, 1935, she was united in marriage to Merle Roloff at Waterloo. In 1942 they moved to Charles City. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Pauline was a homemaker at heart and enjoyed sewing, cooking and doing needlework.

Living family members include two children, Marston “Val” (Gail) Roloff of Woodbury, Minnesota, and Sue (Ron) Coffey of Council Bluffs; two grandchildren, Jason (Michelle) and Joshua (Nicole) Roloff; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Grant, Gabriel and Abigail Roloff; two brothers, Carroll Byrd of LeRoy, Minnesota, and Ernest (Janice) Byrd of Waterloo; a sister, Elaine Hansen of Woodbine; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Byrd of Rochester, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on July 6, 1999, and a brother, Kersey Byrd.

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Pauline Roloff, 90, of 602 Fourth Ave., Charles City, died Monday (Oct. 18, 2004) at Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

Funeral service for Pauline Roloff will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, with Pastor Rick Fessell, of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Cemetery in Orchard.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hauser Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
