Marie T. Roney, 85, of Charles City, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, in Charles City. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Marie Theresa Roethler Roney was born July 6, 1921, the daughter of Ernest and Bernadine (Boehmer) Roethler at Alta Vista. She received her education at the Catholic School in Alta Vista.

In 1940 she was united in marriage to Lionel Roney at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cecelia. Lionel died on November 10, 1947. Marie worked as a housekeeper until her retirement.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Catherine’s Circle, Rosary Society, Lay Carmelites, Litany of Praise and served as a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. Other memberships include, Women of the Moose and V.F.W. Auxiliary. Her interests included dancing, playing cards, and collecting angels of which she had over 175.

Living family members include seven grandchildren: Kevin (Debbie) Eggers of Charles City, Tim (Kathi) Munson of Charles City, Melanie (Robert) Davis of Oklahoma, Missy (Tom) Bucknell of Floyd, Iowa, Ayala Roney, Ashland Roney, and Ace Roney; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Bridget, Tony, and Samantha Holschlag; and a brother, Joseph Roethler and special friend Patricia Christianson of Evansdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three children, Larry Roney, Donna Eggers and Ace Roney; a granddaughter, Roxann Eggers; and a sister, Margaret Cummings.
