Cecil “Junior” Thomas, 65, of New Hampton, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.

Cecil “Junior” Oliver Thomas, Jr. was born April 5, 1943, at Charles City, the son of Cecil and Lavera (Vandeventer) Thomas, Sr. He received his education at Charles City. Cecil had worked for 10 years with Murphy Amusements and then at a log mill in Arkansas for five years. He had served as a volunteer firefighter with the Ionia Fire Department. His interests included carnivals, fishing, camping, traveling in Arkansas and collecting toy cars. Cecil also enjoyed stock car racing.

Living family members include a sister, Judith Billington of New Hampton; a brother, Robert (Karla) Thomas of Charles City, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna Brazzell; and two brothers-in-law.
