CHARLES CITY — Doris Thoe, 76, of Charles City, died Sunday (June 12, 2005) at her residence.

Funeral services for Doris Thoe will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor David Werges will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church an hour prior to the service.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society, 130 Fourth Street S.W., Mason City, IA 50401, with designation to ovarian cancer.

The Hauser Funeral Home, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Thoe, 76, of Charles City, died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at her residence.

Visitation will continue Thursday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Doris June Schwartz Thoe was born June 30, 1928, at Chatfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Anthony and Lena (Weber) Schwartz. She received her education at Chatfield, Minnesota. On May 16, 1953, she was united in marriage to Arthur Thoe at Stewartville, Minnesota. The couple then moved to Charles City where they have remained. Doris was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Her interests included sewing, cooking, reading and interior decorating.

Living family members include her husband, Arthur Thoe of Charles City; a daughter, Toni Fischer of Plano, TX; two grandchildren, Dan Fischer and Sarah Fischer; and a sister, Betty Stameskkin of Rochester, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; Robert Thoe; three brothers, Kenneth, Neal and Russell Schwartz; and two sisters, Alice Cullen and Grace Kinnear.
