Herbert Warren Hill was born February 16, 1956, at Citronelle, Alabama, the son of Rufus and Helen (Steele) Hill. At an early age, the family moved to Waterloo, Iowa where he attended Waterloo Schools.

On March 12, 1986, Herbert married Julie Howard at Iowa City. The couple moved to New Hampton in 1990 and remained there until moving to Charles City in 2003. While in New Hampton Herbert worked for Morris Landscaping, Liddle’s SuperValu and most recently Dean Foods until he became disabled in 1998.

Herbert enjoyed gardening, landscaping and tinkering with cars. He always considered the time spent with family and friends to be very special.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Julie of Charles City; six children, Marissa Hill, H. B. Hill, Amber Hill, Ciarra Hill and Brianna Hill all at home, and Sherrod Allen of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Helen Robinson of Waterloo; six brothers, Bobby (Norma Jean) Palimore of Des Moines, Lawrence Hill of Iowa City, Morris, Donald and Rufus (Sarah) Hill all of Waterloo, and Terrence Hill of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Charlesa Campbell-Hill of Des Moines; his wife’s sisters, Jeanne and her children, Natassia and D.J. Nunley of Iowa City, Jody Howard and husband Javad Hosseini of Grenoble, France, and Jan (Pete) Wright of Eden, VT; his mother-in-law, Mary Ann Crandall of New Hampton; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; a granddaughter; stepfather, Hosea Robinson; and stepmother, Velma Hill.
