Dan N. Frudden, 80, of Charles City, died Saturday, September 8, 2007, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Pastor Phil Coor will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Dan N. Frudden was born March 28, 1927, in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, the son of William and Maree (Miller) Frudden. Dan was educated in the Charles City Schools and after service in the U.S. Navy he obtained a BS degree from Iowa State University.

On June 27, 1956 he was united in marriage to Sally Carbaugh at the First Congregational Church in Charles City. Dan was employed by the Geo. P. Smith millwork company until its demise in the 1968 tornado. He was then employed by the Commercial Trust & Savings Bank which later merged with the First Citizens National Bank until retiring in 1992.

Dan served in numerous civic organizations and projects. He was a founding board member and president of Comprehensive Systems, a founding board member and president of the Comprehensive Systems Foundation, president of the Area Development Corp, comptroller of the Area Development Capital Fund Drive, president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Charles City Excellence in Education Foundation, Commissioner of the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, treasurer of the Floyd County Memorial Hospital Foundation, co-chair of the physician recruitment fund drive, president of the Charles City Rotary Club, chairman of the United Way, president of the YMCA and chairman of the YMCA ANSU drive, founding benefactor of the TLC Learning Center, chairman of the financing center at TLC Learning Center, and member of the First Congregational Church where he served on the Endowment Committee.

His interests included traveling, gardening, serving the Charles City community, and spending time with family.

Living family members include his wife Sally Frudden of Charles City; daughter Nancy (Michael) Garry of Rockford, Ill.; son Bill (Kristie) Frudden of Mahtomedi, Minn.; and two grandchildren, Adam and Hannah Frudden of Mahtomedi, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jim Frudden in 1969; and sister, Lillian K. Frudden.
