Chester Goodno, 95, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Friday, September 10, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa

Funeral services for Chester Goodno will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd. Rev. Solomon Odoom, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the service.

Chester Roy Goodno was born December 4, 1908, at Bronson, Kansas, the son of Otis and Bessie (Noble) Goodno. He graduated in 1930 from the Decorah High School.

On November 26, 1938, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Anderson at Decorah. Chester served in the United States Army during World War II. The couple farmed from 1946 to 1974 in Floyd County. He also did electrical work for Curry Electric of Floyd.

Chester enjoyed woodworking, playing cribbage and pinochle, watching television, and having loved sharing coffee with family and friends. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and served on the church board. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, Floyd School Board, Township Trustee and American Legion. He was the last surviving charter member of the Floyd Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen, of Charles City; daughter Karen Nott and husband Lyle, Iowa Falls; two grandsons, John C. Nott and wife Kathy, Lowden; and Joel D. Nott and wife Jasie, Ames; 6 great grandchildren, Jennifer Elizabeth Nott, Kelly Nott, David Nott, Bethany Nott, Lillian Kay Nott, and Jack Lloyd Goodno Nott. He was preceded in death by his parents.
