Shannon L. Rugger, age 40, of Kansas City, Missouri, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at the Truman Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Shannon Lee Simpson Rugger was born October 30, 1966, the daughter of Johnnie and Susan (Kissel) Simpson at Charles City. She received her education from Charles City High School and the University of Iowa. On October 2, 1993, she was united in marriage to Brett Rugger at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Through the years she has been employed in Iowa and Missouri working with the public. Her interests included, traveling; volunteering at the Humane Society; animals, especially dogs; cooking; going out to eat; and meeting new people. Shannon will always be remembered as a very out going person and a great conversationalist.

Living family members include her husband, Brett Rugger of Coralville; her father, Johnnie Simpson of Charles City; her mother and step-father, Susan and Dennis Grant of Charles City; a brother, Mark (Christina) Simpson of Hugo, Minn.; three nieces and nephews, Megan, Mark, and Anthony Simpson all of Hugo, Minn.; her maternal grandfather, Russel Kissel; three step-sisters, Christine (Stephen) Sartori of Chelmsford, Mass., Theresa (Troy) Stevens of Omaha, Nebr., Angela (Mark) Mattox of Savage, Minn.; a step-brother, Shawn (April) Grant of Dallas, Tex.; several step nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Virgil Houdek of Kansas City, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Kissel; and her paternal grandparents, Anthony and Elizabeth Auchstetter.
