Robert B. Oleson was born September 4, 1918, in Bremer County, Iowa, the son of August and Lena (Huber) Oleson. He received his education from Nashua public school. Bob proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II achieving the rate of Machinist's Mate First Class.

On June 19, 1943, he was united in marriage to Velma Beck at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Bob worked for many years at the Oliver/White Farm Corporation. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His interests included fishing and playing cards. Bob played the banjo in the Oleson Family Band which entertained at many local nursing homes for 27 years. He will always be remembered for his creative storytelling.

Living family members include two children, Sandra (Lowell) Head of Alta Vista, and Don (Doreen) Oleson of Altadena, Calif.; six grandchildren, Teresa (Joe) Hickey, Myron (Shaonda) Head, Daron Head, Stacey Oleson, David (Melissa) Oleson and Robert Cobb; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Ann) Oleson of Evansdale; five sisters, Marie Fritcher of Plainfield, Grace Woodman of Shell Rock, Gertrude Nelson of Phoenix, Ariz., Ardith (Paul) Goings of Nashua and Janet (Dwight) Barnhart of Greene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on January 3, 1996, three brothers; Harold, Andrew and Carl Oleson.; and a sister, Freda Stalheim.
