Gertrude Philipp, 93, of Charles City, died Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

Gertrude Lampman Dykeman Philipp was born October 28, 1912, at Rosemont, Nebraska, the daughter of Dedrick and Jannette (Buntjer) Lampman. She graduated from Blue Hill High School, Blue Hill, Nebraska. On September 4, 1937 she was united in marriage to Virgil Dykeman. Virgil died in 1940.

Gertrude then married Oliver Philipp on May 26, 1956. Oliver died on August 22, 1967. Gertrude was employed at J. C. Penney’s for over 27 years retiring in 1978.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Friendship Circle, Charles City Women’s Club and the Jolly Dozen Canasta Club. Her interests included needlework and traveling. Gertrude always enjoyed spending time with her family and took special interest in her granddaughter Deborah.

Living family members include a son Marvin (Beverly) Dykeman of Stilwell, Kans; a granddaughter, Deborah (William) Noel of Stilwell, Kans.; two brothers, Randall Lampman of Charles City and Loran Lampman of Seattle, Wash.; and a sister, Lena Ahrens of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and a son, Stanley Dykeman who died on October 11, 1969.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, 807 South Main, Charles City, Iowa.
