Carlton Frederick Reetz Jr. was born January 1, 1938, in Charles City, the son of Carlton and Darlien (Phillips) Reetz Sr. He was raised and educated in the area. Carlton worked in the foundry for White Farm for over 35 years. He later worked in several hog farrowing units in the Charles City area. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

Living family members include daughter, Deanna Titus, of Elma, son, Michael (Jodi) Reetz of Charles City, daughter, Leann (Dave) Durnan of New Hampton, son, Brad (Lauri) Reetz, of Floyd, son, Stacy (Jen) Reetz, of Appleton, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Brittney, Rachel, Danielle, Mikala, Brandon, Benjamin, Jacob, and Aidyn; sister, Barbara (Duane) Boggess of Charles City, and brother Jim Reetz of South Bend, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sharon Sadler.
