Charles City, IowaGerald “Jerry” Mrachek, 63, of Charles City, died April 4, 2007, at his residence.
Monsignor Stanley Hayek will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Gerald Ronald Mrachek was born July 11, 1943, at Decorah, the son of Clarence and Evelyn (Triska) Mrachek. He graduated in 1961 from Rudolphinum Catholic High School at Protivin. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. During that time he was stationed at Fort Leonardwood, Mo., Fort Devens, Mass. and in Okinawa.
On December 30, 1967, he was united in marriage to Constance Rice at Cresco. They lived in Charles City all of their married life. To this union two sons, Michael and Ricky, were born. Jerry worked at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company until 1982, Ferch Construction, and then at Cambrex from 1987 to 1999 where he retired due to health reasons. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, American Legion, life long member of the V.F.W. and served with the Charles City Ceremonial Unit. Jerry loved spending time with his family and taking road trips with friends. He was always a hard worker, even after retirement. In his “free” time he kept busy with yard work, cleaning vehicles and doing “honey do’s” for everyone.
Living family members include his wife, Connie of Charles City; a son, Michael (DeAnne) Mrachek of Kansas City, Mo. three grandchildren, Jordan, Katlyn and Jacob Mrachek; his mother, Evelyn Mrachek of Charles City; a sister, Sharon Heise of Charles City; and several nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Ricky; and a brother, Larry Mrachek.
