Elda M. Meyers, 93, of Charles City, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

The Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Elda Mary LaBounty Meyers was born June 24, 1915, at Charles City, the daughter of Louis and Ida (Springer) LaBounty. She graduated from the Immaculate Conception Catholic School. On February 7, 1934, she was united in marriage to Leonard Meyers at Charles City. Elda was employed at Gibbons Ready to Wear for five years and the Floyd County Treasurers Office for 20 years.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Mary Circle, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and the V.F.W. Her interests included cooking, going to dances, watching softball, an avid Chicago Cubs fan, rodeos, traveling, wintering in Florida, and her grandchildren.

Living family members include her three children, Myrna (Lyle) Schlader, DeWayne (Darlene) Meyer and Shirley (Chuck) Weiss all of Charles City; 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Kristin Schlader; and four brothers, Harry, Lloyd, Russell and Raymond LaBounty.
