Clara Gulick, 91, of Charles City, died Monday, September 3, 2007, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Pastor Gary Van Wert will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Clara Mary Royal Gulick was born July 25, 1916, at Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Katherine (Gifford) Royal. She graduated from the Charles City High School. On March 12, 1937, she was united in marriage to Roy Gulick at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Before retirement she was employed for 16 years at Wesco Fabrics in Denver, Colo. as a seamstress.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women; Charles City Woman’s Club; the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary; the Senior Citizens Center; the Y.M.C.A.; and the Heritage Club. Her interests included, swimming at the Y.M.C.A., playing cards, cooking, volunteering at the church and the V.F.W., and spending time with her family.

Living family members include two sisters, Esther Rolph of Charles City and Emma Hobert of Denver, Colo.; three sister-in-laws, Florene Royal Johnson of Charles City, June Gulick of Chicago, Ill., and Beulah Pinneke Colwell of Algona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Ruth McManigle and Jennie Scott; and a brother, George Royal.
