CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Nova Gerhard, 92, of Charles City, died Thursday (March 24, 2005) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Graveside services for Nova Gerhard will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. The Rev. David Werges, pastor at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Charles City Public Library.

The Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.

Nova Gerhard, 92, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Nova Mae Gerhard was born April 23, 1912, at Greene, the daughter of George and Elsie (Patske) Gerhard. She graduated from the Greene High School in 1920 and attended Iowa State Teachers College where she received her teacher’s certificate.

During World War II she worked at the ammunition plant in Burlington and then moved to Charles City where she worked for 29 years at the Oliver Corporation. Reading was her passion and she always looked forward to going to the Charles City Public Library.

Living family members include her daughter, Joan Gardner of Kalamazoo, Michigan; five grandchildren, Trish (Rick) Flanders, Jeff (Nancy) Gardner, Michael Gardner, Marilyn Gardner, Julie (Tim) Arch; 3 great grandchildren, Alecia Flanders, Penny Gardner, Max Arch; 1 great great granddaughter, Makaila Furderer; and one brother, Paul Gerhard, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Frank, Dell, Lynn, Galen, Allen, and “Pink” Gerhard; and two sisters, Neva and Adalis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Charles City Public Library.
