Jean Fisher, 85, of Charles City, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Mike Ott Jr. will officiate. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Frances Jean (Thomas) Fisher was born August 27, 1921 at Horton, the daughter of Harry and Agnes (Jackson) Thomas. She graduated from the Ionia High School. On May 12, 1948, she was united in marriage to Keith Auchstetter at Charles City. Keith died in 1968.

Later she was united in marriage to Gerald Fisher on November 22, 1969, at Charles City. Gerald died in 1994. Jean was employed as a waitress at the Trowbridge, and The Red Owl, and as a clerk at the jewelry store until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Bethany Alliance Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Heritage Club. Her interests included her pets, crossword puzzles, reading, and getting together with her high school classmates.

Living family members include two step children, Connie (Jerry) Wilson of Antioch, Ill. and Craig (Jeanne) Fisher of Charles City; one step daughter-in-law, Marta Fisher of Charles City; six step grandchildren, Mat Wilson, Nick Wilson, Chris (Katie) Fisher, Joseph Fisher, Amy Fisher, and Katlyn Fisher; one niece, Kathleen Nicholson of Charles City; and one nephew, Daniel (Bonnie) Nicholson of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a step son, Bruce Fisher; and two sisters, Margaret Thomas and Harriette Nicholson.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, 1003 Gilbert St. Charles City, Iowa.
