Lavonne Eichmeier, 85, of Rockford, died Friday, April 20, 2007, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Cerro Gordo county, Iowa.

Lavonne Eichmeier was born May 31, 1921, at Rockford, Floyd county, Iowa, the son of Loren and Eva (Ballhagen) Eichmeier. He received his education at Rockord. Lavonne proudly served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was married on May 31, 1946 to Vivian Blunt at Rockford. He was a farmer and also owned and operated the Rockford Machine Shop for many years.

Lavonne was a member of the American Legion; Rockford Lions Club and had served on the board of the Rockford Manor. He also had served as a reserve police officer and had been a volunteer fireman for many years. His interests included fishing, dancing, playing cards and working in the machine shop. He will always be remembered as a person who enjoyed tinkering with machinery.

Living family members include his wife, Vivian of Rockford; three sons, Richard (Marcella) Eichmeier of Lake Mills, Danny Eichmeier of Marble Rock and Michael Eichmeier of Rockford; six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
