Scott Allen Druehl was born March 9, 1972, at Charles City, the son of Gary and Mary (Nehls) Druehl. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1990 and completed his paramedic training in 1997. Scott worked with emergency medical services in Charles City, Clarinda and Des Moines. He also was a volunteer firefighter with the Charles City Fire Department since 1999.

On February 14, 1997, he was united in marriage to Julie Schaefer at Charles City. While Scotts interests included hunting, fishing and drag racing his life centered on providing emergency medical care.

Living family members include his wife, Julie Druehl of Charles City; three children, Michael, Samantha and Leo all at home; parents, Gary and Mary Druehl of Charles City; paternal grandmother, Margaret Druehl of Charles City; maternal grandfather, Clair Nehls of Charles City; and maternal great grandmother, Gertrude Rice of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Edward Druehl; maternal grandmother, Donna Nehls; paternal great grandparents, Fred and Mabel Symonds; and maternal great grandfather, Fred Simerson.
