Norbert W. Boehmer, 70, of Charles City, died Saturday, September 2, 2006, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Norbert Walter Boehmer was born April 30, 1936, the son of Cletus and Thelma (O’Donnell) Boehmer at Elma. He attended school at Alta Vista.

On November 25, 1962 he was united in marriage to Barbara Boyd at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. During his working career he was employed at Eagle Iron Works in Des Moines, an appliance repair man in Salem, Ore., Rowan Bay Logging Company in Alaska and as a maintenance supervisor in a nursing home in Centrailia, Wash. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and a past member of the Moose lodge.

Norbert’s interests included reading westerns, watching baseball, working with his hands, traveling, the beach, the mountains, and most of all spending time with his family.

Living family members include two children, Brent Boehmer of Charles City, and Kenda (Benjamin) Shuman of Charles City; four sisters, Yvonne “Pat” (William) Smith of Des Moines, Marilyn Good of Council Bluffs, Monita (Russell) Engstler of Garner, and Margorie (Clifford) Kolthoff of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Daniel (Janet) Boehmer of Janesville, Minn., and David (Joyce) Boehmer of Charles City; and 25 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara; one brother, Cletus “Tony” Boehmer; and a brother in-law, Dean Good.
