Maxine Lomison, age 93, of Charles City, died on Friday, April 7, 2006, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Maxine Marie Lomison was born June 22, 1912, at Jefferson, the daughter of Rex and Goldie (Stuart) Sturdivant. She graduated from the Colwell High School in 1931.

Maxine was united in marriage to Rubert Rowley in 1931. Rubert died in 1953 as the result of an airplane accident. On April 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Lawrence “Bud” Lomison at Charles City. They farmed north of Bassett until 1984 when they retired and moved into Charles City. Maxine also worked for three years at Wandro’s Produce.

She was a member of the Colwell United Church of Christ where she held various offices over the years. Maxine also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Senior Citizens, Heritage Club and the Twisters Square Dance Club.

Living family members include her husband, Lawrence “Bud” Lomison of Charles City; a daughter, Shirley (Russell) Nordman of Charles City; a son, Kenneth (Mary) Rowley of Charles City; four grandchildren; Jeff (Melody) Nordman, Denise (Brian) Kelly, Rachael (Barry) Kelly and Tim Rowley; six great-grandchildren, Chase, Alex, Brianna, Alyssa and Spencer Kelly and Nicole (Travis) Hanaway; two great-great-grandchildren, Levi Lindner and Halle Hanaway; and a brother, Donald Sturdivant.

She was preceded by her parents; first husband; a brother, Paul Sturdivant; and a sister, Helen Chestek.
