CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Ivan Lokenvitz, 87, of Charles City, died Monday (May 30, 2005) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Funeral services for Ivan Lokenvitz will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, with Pastor Solomon Odoom, of the West Saint Charles United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the West Saint Charles United Methodist Church or the Easy Lift Fund at the Salsbury Baptist Home.

Ivan Lokenvitz, age 87, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Monday, May 30, 2005, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Ivan Laverne Lokenvitz was born March 10, 1918 at Charles City, the son of Albert and Florence (Heitz) Lokenvitz. He attended country school and the Charles City High School.

On November 8, 1937, he was united in marriage to June M. Woelfer at Mason City. They farmed for many years west of Charles City. Ivan also worked at the Oliver Corporation for several years.

He was a member of the West Saint Charles United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau. Ivan always looked forward to spending time with his family, taking special interest in all of their activities. His interests included traveling with his wife in the motor home, airplanes, listening to Country Western music, and attending the music festival at Avoca, IA.

Living family members include three children, Dixie Gettings of Denver, CO, Judith Lokenvitz of Muscatine, and Jerald (Marge) Lokenvitz of Madison, WI; six grandchildren, Deb TenBrink, Mike Hammel, Diane Bucknell, Jon Gettings, Jennifer Schwitzer and Diana Lokenvitz; six great grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Robert Hammel of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife June M. Lokenvitz on July 31, 2004; a daughter, Mary Hammel; and three brothers, A. Harold Lokenvitz, Merlyn Lokenvitz and Darryl Lokenvitz, Sr.
