MASON CITY, IOWA - Edna M. Hartwell, 74, of 664 Second St. N.E., Mason City, died Thursday (Nov. 20, 2008) at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. An inurnment will take place at Rock Grove Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today, November 23, 2008 at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City.

Edna was born on August 2, 1934, in Charles City, the daughter of Melvin and Ruby (Brandau) Weatherwax. She graduated from Charles City High School. Previous employment included working for National Steel Center as an office manager. Edna also worked at Masters Chiropractic Clinic as an office manager, and then she retired in 1995 from Principal Insurance.

Edna married Daniel Hartwell Jan. 22, 1971, in South Dakota.

Edna was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the church circle. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting. One of her greatest joys was watching her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Dan, of Mason City; daughter, Cindi (Bud) Turner of Nora Springs; son, Dennis (Brenda) Schultz of Nora Springs; daughter, Karla (Todd) Brown of Greene; daughter, Brenda (Chris) Trytten of Mason City; stepson, David (Sue) Hartwell of Iowa City; stepdaughter, Barbara (Bill) Bowen of Mason City; and stepdaughter, Judith (Chuck) Stack of Denver, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Clifford (Linda) Weatherwax of Mason City; and her sister, Karen (Nick) Noland of Cheyene, Wyo.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents.
