ROCKFORD, IOWA — Max D. Jeffrey, 56, of 2411 Balsam Ave., Rockford, died of natural causes on Wednesday morning (June 13, 2007) at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 21 Third St. N.W., Rockford, with the Rev. Kenneth Kent officiating. Military flag and taps services will be held at the church conducted by Gallagher Post No. 208 of the American Legion. The final disposition of his cremated remains will occur at a later date.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. today at his mother’s home, 2411 Balsam Ave. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Max was born the second child of six to Dale and Doris “Coyle” Jeffrey on Nov. 13, 1950, at the Floyd County Hospital in Charles City. He was a 1968 graduate of the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school district and then completed two years of business education at NIACC.

Following college, he entered the Army from Oct. 14 1970, until his honorable discharge from the service on Mar. 10 1972. While stationed in Germany, he was in charge of weapon inventory control.

He farmed for one year and then was engaged in inventory control with White Farm for 20 years and then Unverferth for 12 years.

Max enjoyed the outdoors and being “out and about” in it. He loved teasing his nieces and nephews and visiting with his family. He also fished around home and at Leech Lake and in Wisconsin. For a time, he was a beekeeper. He was a member of the American Legion Gallagher Post No. 208 of Rockwell.

Surviving Max are his mother, Doris, of Rockford; four sisters, Janice and her husband, Allan Kuhlers, Julie and her husband, Rick Demaray, all of Rockford, Barb and her husband, Kevin Lein, of Bakersfield, Calif., and Peggy and her husband, Scott Larson, of Callendar; one brother, Bill Jeffrey, of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and other relatives and friends.

His father, Dale, who died Dec. 23, 1982; and his grandparents preceded him in death.
