NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Eleanor E. Schwade, 82, of Nora Springs, died Tuesday (June 12, 2007) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held on Friday (June 15, 2007) at St. Luke Lutheran Church 101 N. Hawkeye in Nora Springs, with the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Edinge, officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, June 14, at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, IA 50458.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Nora Springs Care Center, and the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Nora Springs.

Eleanor E. Schwade was born on Feb. 8, 1925, in Klemme, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Stromer) Baack. She attended country schools in rural Klemme and Nora Springs.

On Dec. 6, 1942, she was united in marriage to John Schwade in Rockford, Iowa.

In 1945, John and Eleanor purchased what became known as the family farm where they were grain and livestock farmers. Eleanor enjoyed the outdoors where she spent most of her time helping out on the farm. John and Eleanor farmed until 1980, then spending much of their time traveling.

Eleanor enjoyed gardening, helping at the church, crocheting, embroidery, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Betty (Robert) Sheriff, of Belmond; three sons, Gene (Lois) Schwade of Mason City, Gerald (Kathy) Schwade of Nora Springs, and Don Schwade of Nora Springs; five grandchildren, Jeremy Schwade of Mason City, Justin Schwade of Seattle, Wash., Jessica (Brad) VanVark of Pella, Susan Sheriff of Des Moines, and John (Devna) Sheriff of Ames; one sister, Eunice Beal of Wasilla, Alaska; two nieces, Randy and Rachael; two nephews, Mark and Todd; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Her husband, John, and parents, William and Elizabeth; preceded her in death.
