Lester Beaver, 87, of Charles City, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Lester Jewel Beaver was born March 27, 1921, at Sergeant, Minn., the son of Roy and Laura (Newman) Beaver. He received his education at Rose Creek, Minn. Lester proudly served in the United States Army during World War II.

On December 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to Peggy Roy. They lived all of their lives in Charles City where Lester worked for 34 years at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company. Lester also did painting, repaired lawnmowers, snow blowers, and small engines, and had a Watkins route. He was happiest when he was busy working. Lester was a member of the American Legion, U.A.W. as well as a life long member of the V.F.W.

Living family members include his wife of 61 years, Peggy Beaver of Charles City; three children, Dave (Deborah) Beaver, Connie Beaver, and Dennis (Deborah) Beaver all of Charles City; five grandchildren, Ammie (James) Joslin, Kevin Beaver, Shannon (Amber) Hoy, Jennifer (Shawn) Castillo and Jacob Beaver; three great grandchildren, Lincoln Joslin, Austin Castillo and Taylor Hoy; and four sisters, Joy Delaney of Trona, Calif., Mary Pryor and Alice Merical both of Des Moines and Ruth (Merle) Pannhoff of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bill, Ralph and Owen Beaver; and two sisters, Helen Leidol and Esther Parmenter.
