J. Maxine Bauer, 94, of Charles City, died Monday, April 02, 2007, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

Pastor Paul Wilcox will officiate. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

J. Maxine Cummings Bauer was born April, 4, 1912, the daughter of Jesse and Pearl (Bonsall) Cummings in Floyd County, Iowa. She graduated from the Colwell High School and attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On September 4, 1936, she was united in marriage to Edward Bauer at her parent’s home in Chickasaw County. Maxine was a teacher at rural schools in Chickasaw County and at the Colwell Consolidated School.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women. Her interests included sewing; quilting; cooking; flowers; and gardening. Maxine will always be remembered as a wonderful homemaker, an excellent hostess as well as a loving wife and mother.

Living family members include her son, Lyle (Freda) Bauer of Omaha, Nebr.; her daughter, Jean Werth of Loveland, Colo.; five grandchildren, Scott (Allison) Bauer, Leah Bauer, Stacy Bauer, Laura (Dan) Ingelido, and Lisa (Joe) Mock; eight great grandchildren, Meredith and Trever Pentzien, Elise and Tristan Bauer, Kyle and Kayla Mock, Gabriel and Caleb Ingelido; one sister, Mary (Donald) Manning of Charles City; a brother, Dale Cummings of Charles City; a sister-in-law, Wanda Cummings of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Kelvin Werth; and two brothers, Lester and Donald Cummings.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 601 Milwaukee St., Charles City, IA 50616.
