CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Gertrude Kelly, 96, of Charles City died Friday (April 1, 2005) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Carl Ries officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Elma.
Friends may call at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, where the rosary will be recited at 4:30 and a vigil Scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday an hour prior to the service at the church.

Charles City, IA 50616Gertrude Kelly, 96, of Charles City, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Gertrude Isabelle Palmersheim Kelly was born February 16, 1909, at Elma, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Biwer) Palmersheim. She graduated in 1926 from the Immaculate Conception School at Elma.
On November 24, 1943 she was united in marriage to Bernard Kelly at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Elma. She moved to Charles City in 1968. Gertrude worked at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home for 14 years. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Circle and the Cedar Terrace "Tenant Aerobics."
Her interests included flower gardening, making scrubbies, working daily crossword puzzles, playing cards, reading, shopping and going out to lunch. Gertrude will always be remembered for her faith in God and her love and concern for her family.
Living family members include four children, Ray (Sandy) Kelly of Minneapolis, MN, John (Ann) Kelly of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Gary) Burke of Waverly, and Bernadette Kelly of Eden Prairie, MN; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Bob) Bruce, Nathan (Angie) Kelly, Brian (Tori) Kelly, Jason Kelly, Chad Kelly, Sara (Jeff) Curphey and Scott (Jennifer) Burke; three great grandchildren, Walker, Jamey and Reagan Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard in 1965, three brothers, Matt, Earl and Pete Palmersheim; and two sisters, Chris Schmit and Marie Gleason.
