Opal Kelly, 95, of Marble Rock, Floyd county, Iowa, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Opal Faye Randall Kelly was born October 11, 1909, at Marble Rock, the daughter of Elmer and Mamie (Hubbard) Randall. She graduated in 1927 from the Marble Rock High School. Upon graduation she taught school and helped on the farm.

On February 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kelly at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Roseville. Opal spent all of her life on the family farm and also worked for 16 years at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. She was a long time active member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.

Opal had many interests including, bird watching, gardening, doing yard work, raising chickens and turkeys, reading, writing letters, keeping a diary, reminiscing, avid follower of Wheel of Fortune and caring for her dog, April. Opal’s family was very important to her and she always took a special interest in them.

Living family members include a son, Norman (Sara) Kelly of Marble Rock; four grandchildren, Bob Kelly of Mason City, Mardel (Rod) Brockett of Reinbeck, Andy (Corey) Kelly of Sherrill and Frank (Mary) Kelly of Marble Rock; four great grandchildren, Skyler Kelly and Kelly, Sadie and Paul Brockett; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on June 5, 1989; a son, Milton Kelly; a brother, Virgil Randall; and a sister, Lucille Randall.

MARBLE ROCK — Opal Kelly, 95, of Marble Rock, died Sunday (April 3, 2005) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville. Monsignor Walter Brunkan, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, where there will be a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 7 p.m. followed by the reciting of the Rosary. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the Mass.
