MABLE ROCK, IOWA — A graveside service for Grace Ahart, age 89, formerly of Marble Rock, Floyd county, Iowa will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Westside Cemetery, Marble Rock.
Grace Oudekerk was born May 28, 1919, in Buck Grove, Iowa, a daughter of Koert and Alice (Dieterman) Oudekerk, Sr. and passed away in her home on Thursday, July 31, 2008, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She was raised and attended school in Nashua. She met and married Roy Ahart on May 28, 1940. They made their home in Marble Rock for many years. During the war she worked at the shipyards cleaning the men's dormitory rooms. After the war, she was a homemaker.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter in infancy; three sisters: Anna, Henrietta and Alice; three brothers: Harm, George, and Koert, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roy, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; by a son, Terry of Omaha, Arkansas; by a daughter, Mary from Bartlesville, Oklahoma; by three grandchildren: Nicole (Jim) Reese of Isanti, Minnesota, Luke (Ami) Ahart of Tempe, Arizona, and Jesse Ahart of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and four great grandchildren.
Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 423 Bradford St., Marble Rock, (641) 823-4457, is in charge of funeral services.
