Death of Old County Settler

In this city Dec. 10th, occurred the death of Mrs. Abigail Ayers, an old and respected resident of this place.

Abigail Swett was born in Maine October 28, 1821. She was married Feb. 18, 1840, to Wm. Libby and they arrived in Charles City, Nov. 30th, 1868. Her second marriage was consuminated March 25, 1870, with Nelson Ayers.

One son, Harrison, now a resident of Minneapolis and her daughter Meriam, who has so lovingly cared for her during the last years of her life, are now left to mourn the loss of a mother.
Mrs. Ayers united with the church of Christ about twelve years ago and though not able to attend services for some time past, her faith remained steadfast to the end.

The funeral services were held this afternoon from the residence of Lyman Kellogg, Rev. L. H. Sours, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating, "Blessed are those who die in the Lord."
