Not a lot of information but on page 744 of the "1878 History of Fayette County, Iowa" (biography of John Fortsch) the following was written, "Eleven children have been born unto them; John, the oldest, much to the bereavement of his parents, was shot by a neighbor's son ...." Chiles family not listed in
book so may have already moved on.
