In Greenwood Cemetery, Fremont Twp,(west of Westgate) is buried John J. Fortsch. He died at
the age of 13, killed by Joseph Chiles (so it says
on John's headstone) John died in 1864. Does
anyone have any knowledge of the circumstances
surrounding this event? John appears on the 1860
Census (page 308) but Chiles does not. By virtue
of the "killed by Joseph Chiles" inscribed on the
headstone, I wonder if Chiles was prosecuted.
Anyone familiar with this event?? Jon
