— Last evening about 5:30 occured
the sad death of Charles Tonkinson.
On his return from near Westgate as
he was crossing the first crossing this
side of the Thorman creamery, passenger
No. 4, coming from St. Paul,
struck him, demolishing the buggy
and killing him instantly. The train
stopped and picked up the body and
brought it to Oeiwein, where it was
taken to undertaker Millard, and a coroner's
inquest was held. Mr. Tonkinson
was a resident of Oelwein. and lived
in ward 2. He was a middle aged
man and leaves a daughter to mourn
his unexpected taking away.
