Funeral services were held for Dan McNeil at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13 at St. Bridget Catholic Church. Rev. Paul Otting officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Daniel James McNeil, son of Edward and Christina (Steele) McNeil, was born April 6, 1912 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He died Sunday morning, Jan. 10, 1988 in the Memorial Hospital at Prairie du Chien, WI.

He attended the NcNeil School in rural Clayton County. He served in the armed forces during World War II.

On July 7, 1945 he married Catherine M. Hines at Louisville, KY. The couple had five children.

He was employed by the Farm Service Co. in the Waukon and Tipton areas until 1953. They then moved to Postville and operated NcNeil Feed and Supply. In 1970 he became a salesman for Grove Feed Mill in Monona until retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion and also St. Bridget Catholic Church where he had served as a trustee in the past.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Margaret and Christina "Bea" Ducharme.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine, 2 sons, Daniel, Elgin, IL and James, Madison, WI; 3 daughters, Barbara, Iowa City, Mary Catherine, Waterloo, and Mrs. Reggie (Mary Jane) Tehel, Olathe, KS; 3 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Joseph, Postville and John "Jack" Clermont; 2 sisters, Mary Finley, Elkader and Marjorie Hale, Cedar Rapids.

Casket Bearers: Bertie Waters, Louie Erickson, Paul Waters, Ambrose Looney, Tom Hogan and Terry Hogan.

Honorary casket bearers: Harry Landt, Marvin Chevalier and Ray Looney.
