Mrs Fereday In Memoriam:
Anna Riechers was born in Fayette county, Iowa June 10, 1852 and died at her home in tis city on February 6, 1920, aged 67 years, 7 months and 26 days. She grew to adulthood in this county and on October 30, 1881 was united in marriage with Benjamin Fereday.
For a number of years they resided on a farm from which they moved to Oelwein about 28 years ago. For the last three years Mrs Fereday has been an invalid most of the time entirely helpless. Her husband has devoted his life(?) and strength to her care and has ministered in every way to her comfort through her long illness. Her position in suffering and her natural spirit have been a help and comfort to herself and friend through all her trying days.
During the last few weeks she has experienced a remarkable sense of God's presence and neighbors who have visited her have found it a blessing just to see the expression of her great joy in this Divine contemplation(?).
Left to cherish her memory and follow her good example of faith, are her devoted husband, four sisters and one brother, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
"She has entered into rest and we know she has been the light that ever was on land or sea." and we thank God for the light He gave to her at evening time.
The many friends of the bereaved husband extend their sympathy in his lonely hour.
A larege gathering of friends and neighbors at her late home in Fifth ave East Sunday afternoon, where Funeral services were held, attest the high esteem in which Mrs Fereday was regarded.
After the brief services at the home, consisting of two appropriate hymns, sung by Mrs James King and Mrs E R McBride and an address by Dr W.C. Clewor? the sacred remains were intered in the family lot at the beautiful Woodlawn Cemetery.
