Obituary of Mrs Mary Riechers.
Mrs Mary Riechers died at the home of her daughter Mrs A Linton at Oelwein, Iowa. May 15 1908, aged 78 years and 9 months, after a lingering illness of many months and during those long weary weks no word of impatience of murmuring ever passed her lips. She longed to go home and meet her Savior and loved . . .heavenly home, and while the evening drew on she peacefully fell asleep.
She was confirmed in theLutheran church at the age of fourteen and remained a member of that church. She was of a kind and sunny disposition and dearly loved by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed.
Mary Bunker was born in Hanover, Germany, August 15 1829 where she grew to womanhood. In 1850 she came with her sister to America and located at New York on Feb 12 1854. She was married to John Riechers and in 1855 they moved to Iowa and located in Putnam township, and in 1863 they moved to Nevada and in 1867 they returned to their old home in Iowa where she has resided till the last year when she came to Oelwein to live with her daughters. On July 26, 1905 she was bereft of her husband. To this union were born nine children, two dying in infancy and Henry who preceeded his mother six weeks before.
She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Miss Louise Bunker of Louisville, Kentucky, and six children, John Riechers, of Aurora, Mary Fereday, of Waterloo, Lizzie Harkin, of Arlington, Anna Fereday, Louise Linton and Dora DeBow of Oelwein.
Prayer at home of A Linton at 1 p.m. Monday. Sermon and burial at Union church 10 miles east at 3 p.m. Rev. A.E. Moody officiating.
