Arlington - Joseph Eugene Miller, 70, 713 Liberty, Arlington, died Saturday, Oct. 20.
The longtime Arlington resident had been the manager of the Maynard and Arlington lumber yards. He had also owned and operated a gas station in Arlington and had been a janitor at the Starmont school. He had also been employed at AMPI, and was a volunteer worker at the Osborne Nature Center. He was a World War II Army Veteran.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Kerns-Jamison Funeral Home, Arlington, with the Rev. Ron Nichosl officiating. Burial will be in the Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 23, at the Kerns Jamison Funeral Home, Arlington, and for one hour before the services on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, Arlington; a daugher, Teresa, Mrs. Allen Cushion, Fairbank; two grandsons; two stepsons, Gerald McElree, Waukon, and Dennis McElree, West Union; one stepdaughter, Ruth Bruch, Sumner; eight step-grandchildren; two sisters; Frances Cousins, Arlington, and Delores Berger, Elkader; a niece and nephew. He was preced in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
He was born Feb. 18 1920 in Wadena, the son of Edgar and Lottie Stevens Miller. He married Virginia Bigelow, Dec 19 1945 in Arlington. He married Alice Fox, June 16, 1977 at West Union.
The family requests no flowers. A memorial fund has been established for the Osborne Nature Center and the Arlington EMT's.
