Arlington--Funeral services for David Alden Dempster of Harpers Ferry, and formerly of Arlington, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29 at the Church of Christ, Arlington, with the Rev. Scott Hall officiating. Burial will be in Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Monday, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Arlington, and one hour before services at the Chruch Tuesday.
Mr. Dempster, 74, died Saturday morning, Aug. 26, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Wis., after a short illness.
He was born April 26, 1921, in rural Arlington, the son of David and Marie L. (Betcher) Dempster. He married Maxine Elaine Bigelow, Feb. 14, 1940, in Arlington. He married Donna Brown, May 25, 1974, in Arlington, and married Radien Dansdill, March 18, 1984, in Decorah. Mr. Dempster farmed and did carpentry work in the Arlington area until moving to Harpers Ferry in the early 1980's. He was a member of the Interfaith of Harpers Ferry, and the Harpers Ferry Community Booster Club.
Survivors include his wife, Radine of Harper's Ferry; one daughter, Sharon Sprague of Tripoli; one son, David Dempster III of Waterloo; two grandchildren; four great-grandchldren; and one sister, Anna Bergan of Strawberry Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Maxine; two brothers, James and Russell; and two sisters, Iona and Ethelyn.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
