A J. Tuper died Feb. 15th at his home near Auburn, in his 85th year. He came to Fayette county in 1868, and his living descendants are 10 children, 33 grand children, and 14 great grand children. His funeral was held in the I. O. O. F hall and six of his sons served as pall bearers.

Transcriber’s Note: Iowa Gravestone photos show he is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery and that his name is spelled Tupper. He was born January 27, 1820.
