OBITUARY.
From the Waucoma Sentinel we clip the following obituary of Mrs. Frank Duffy, who died at the residence of her daughter Miss Fanny Duffy, in Waucoma on the 22d ult., at the ripe age of 78 years, 9 months and 12 days. The Sentinel says:
Miss Rose McGovern was born in County Monaghan, Ireland, May 10, 1825, and lived in that country until she was twenty years old, coming to America in 1845. After a short time spent in New York she came to Ohio,, where she remained for several years and was there married to Frank Duffy, the wedding taking place at Norwalk in 1854.
In 1857 they came west and located near what is now known s Jackson Junction, in Winnesheik{sp} county, and farmed until seventeen years ago when they came to Waucoma, where they have since lived, Mr. Duffy passed away seven years ago and since that time Mrs. Duffy and daughter Fanny have resided in the old home.
Mrs. Duffy was n quiet, home-loving woman, one who rarely went away from her immediate neighborhood except to attend church, and will be badly missed by the five daughters who survive her They are Mrs. Thos. Mangan, Mrs. Jos. Marron, Mrs. John Shekleton and Miss Fanny, of this place, and Mrs. Thos. Carnall, of Hawkeye. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Hoey of Jackson Junction and Mrs. McMahon, living near St. Rose church, as well as twenty-two grandchildren, all of whom were in attendance during her last sickness.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in St. Rose Cemetery.
