Memorial services were held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Alpha United Methodist Church in Alpha, Iowa for Edith Sylvia Mann, age 95, of West Union, Iowa who passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at her home following a long illness. Inurment would be in the West Union Cemetery in West Union, Iowa at a later date.

Edith Sylvia Mann was born on a farm near Alpha, Iowa on November 30, 1916 to Will and Della (Farr) Conklin. She was a lifetime member of the Alpha United Methodist Church where she was baptized and attended Sunday School. Edith graduated in 1934 from the Alpha Consolidated School. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Edith taught three years in a rural school in Chickasaw County.

In 1941 she married Ralph Mann in Nashua, Iowa. They lived on a farm in the Alpha, Hawkeye, and West Union area. They were the parents of four children. Edith was a member of the Farm Bureau Women's Group, Cancer Society, and was a 4-H Leader and judge.

Edith Mann is survived by her son Tom (Jaci) Mann of West Union; fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; brother Dale (Virginia) Conklin of West Union; sons-in-law Merrill Knapp of Hawkeye, Iowa and Dale Miller of Fredericksburg, Iowa; sister-in-law Marie (Dale) Luckow of Sun City, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; daughters Nancy Knapp and Judy Miller; her son Jack Mann and two grandchildren; two sisters Helen Moser and Vernice Marshall.
