~ OBITUARIES ~

DOROTHY BEGALSKE SERVICES HELD

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 5. for Dorothea Begalske. Rev Victor Baderschneider and Intern Harriet Danielson conducted the services at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, with Burnham-Wood Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the West Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allan Brockway, Kevin Brockway, Dean Brockway, Rodney Morse, James Begalske. Daniel Elliott.

Dorothea Sophiea Ohman Begalske, daughter of Carl and Wilhelmine Engelke Ohman, was born April 6, 1891, in Bethel Township of Fayette County. She was baptized on June 21, 1891, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Banks Township. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hawkeye on April 16, 1905 by Rev. Fritschel.

On May 10, 1917, Dorothea was united in marriage to William P Begalske by the Rev. Gottlieb Westenberger. To this union four children were born. They farmed the same farm in rural Fayette until his health failed she had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1945.

Dorothea had recently been a resident of the Good Samaritan home in West Union She died there on Sunday morning, August 2, at the age of 96 years 3 months and 27 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, four brothers, her husband in 1975, and a son, Lionel.

She is survived by two daughters. Arlene (Mrs. Wesley) Morse of West Union and Dorothea (Mrs. Raymond) Brockway of rural Hawkeye a son, Merlin Begalske of rural Fayette. 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
