Walter Ash Jr., 84, of Charles City, formerly of West Union, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, in his home after a short illness.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union, by the Rev. Galen Smith. Burial: West Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Wally of Charles City; two daughters, Marlys Gerleman of Charles City and Marcia Frey of Bentonville, Ark. and a sister, Dorothy Medberry of Elgin.
