Charles Learn was born in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, January 3, 1807 and died at his home in Dover township, May 18, 1905, aged 98 years, 4 months and 15 days. On April 04, 1837, he was married to Elizabeth Havenstrite, in Pennsylvania. In 1856 they came to Fayette County, settling on a farm in Dover township, where he remained until his death. Nine children were born to them, seven of whom are left to mourn the loss of a father and mother, his wife having preceded him but two years. The living are Mrs. Nutting and Mrs. Anderson of Clermont, Mrs. Rogers of Waucoma, Mrs. Beals of Farmersburg, Mrs. Morse of Duluth, Mrs. Bellis of Randalia, and Jonas H., who still resides on the old homestead. He also leaves to mourn his loss, 27 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, two brothers and a sister.
