Hans H. “Buck” Frederick, was born August 25, 1902, in Bremmer, Germany, to Adolf and Helen (Koopman) Frederick. He was raised in the Elgin area after coming from Germany at the age of two. He worked most of his life in road construction.
He was united in marriage to Oral Fritz in Fayette, November 20, 1932. Her death occurred in 1946. In 1956, he married Helen Gruver Dawson at Nashua. She preceded him in 1963. He is survived by his wife the former Edna Woodson Tope, who he married on October 25, 1964, at Nashua.
Besides his wife, he leaves to survive a son Roger and his wife Carolyn, Marion; a daughter Marvel and her husband Gary Alber, Fayette; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two stepsons: Kenneth Tope and his wife of Grinnell; Russell Tope and his wife of Marion; seven step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; a sister: Mrs. Irvin (Emma) Reuter, Waterloo, and a brother, Harry, Tacoma, WA.
Besides his wives he was preceded in death by two brothers: Adolf and William, and a sister, Minnie Miller, and his parents.
Funeral service was held at Muchlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin, with The Rev. Robert Salge officiating. Mary Ann Schaer was organist.
Casket bearers were Randy Alber, Steven Alber, Jeffery Alber, Tad Alber, Chad Alber, Brooke Alber. Arrangements were by Muehlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin.
Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery.
