Irene Mae Yack, daughter of August and Louise Boyer, was born Dec. 20 1887, and died at the Community Hospital in Postville July 25, 1969, at the age of 81 years.
She attended the Elgin schools and was graduated from high school in 1906.
March 18, 1913, she was united in marriage to H. D. Yack. To this union two children were born. Serene (Mrs. Tom Desmond) of Davenport and a son, Virtus, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
She was baptized in St. Paul’s M.E. Church and was a member of the W.S.C.S. for many years. She also was a member of the Elgin Sturdy Club in her earlier years. Her entire life was spent in this community.
Survivors include her daughter and son, grandsons, Larry, Barry and Garry Yack, one granddaughter, D’Rene Desmond, a great Grandson, Timmy Yack, a sister, Mrs. Grace Evans and other relatives. Her parents, husband and sister, Flora Walther, preceded her in death.
Funeral Services were conducted at the Muehlethaler Funeral Chapel Monday, July 28, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. D. Dawes officiating. Interment was in the Elgin cemetery.
Pall bearers were John Tillotson, Earl Kiple, Elmer Lantz, Ed Klingman, Charles O’Neill and Walter Kohler.
