Mrs. Phoebe Champlin (1830 - 1907)

The death of Mrs. Phoebe Champlin, one of the pioneers of this section, occured at the home of her son, Al(mond) Champlin, southeast of the city Sunday morning at 6:30 o'clock. The last services occur at the same place Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. A. E. Moody officiating.

Phoebe Miller was born in New York, December 13, 1830, and was therefore past seventy seven years of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to P. L. Champlin in January 1865, and they located on a farm southeast of the city many years ago. To them were born six children, two of whom, Carl and Al, survive her. Mr. Champlin died a number of years ago. She was a member of the Universalist Church and she was a good wife and mother.
