Catherine Hoagland (1826 - 1907)

A letter from Hiram Hoagland's brother with whom he is visiting at Mercer, Pennsylvania, states that their mother Catherine Hoagland, aged 81 years, died at the old Pennsylvania homestead December 11th and was buried on the 13th; also since Mr. Hoagland's arrival at his brother's, he has had a severe attack of inflamation of the lungs, with strong indication of a paralytic attack, which was broken up by skillful physicians. He is now recovering, but his brother thinks he will be unable to return to Iowa for sometime. ---- Fayette County Union.

The lady whose death is referred to above was the grandmother of Mrs. John Jamison, of this city, whose father, Hul Hoagland is well known in Oelwein, and is sojourning for the winter in Los Angeles, California.
