Larry E. Harrison

Larry E. Harrison, 68, of Ankeny died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from complications of bladder cancer. Funeral services were held at Rising Sun Church of Christ on Saturday with burial following at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Memorials may be given to Rising Sun Church of Christ, or a charity of the donor’s choice. He was born April 1, 1939 in Prairie City to Walter and Pauline (Dykstra) Harrison. Larry married Ladonna Van Maanen in June, 1965. A life-long Prairie City resident, he moved to Ankeny in 1996. After retiring from Maytag Corporation, Larry was employed by the post office in Ankeny and Quest Diagnostics. He was an Army Veteran and a member of Rising Sun Church of Christ. Larry married Patricia Weinstein in June 1996.

He is survived by his wife Pat, 2 sons and their wives, Craig and Patricia Harrison of Oelwein and Randy and Kristi Harrison of Omaha, NE; 2 stepsons and their wives, Brian and Kelley Weinstein of Norwood, NJ and Matthew and Shelley Weinstein of Nashville, TN. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren; his uncle John Dykstra; nieces Norma Duvall-Mitchell and Betty Yount-Perry; nephew Donald Harrison, and numerous cousins and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his first life Ladonna, parents, half-brother Virgil Harrison, half-sister Mary Harrison and a nephew Richard Harrison. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa, Thurs 26 Apr 2007.
